Tuesday Topics: Seven Things About My Job

Seven things about my job...

Well I'm not currently in my "dream job"...

It pays the bills and I'm thankful to have a job when so many don't.
It's an office job and I surround myself with hello kitty things...
I work in a department of the university I graduated from.
This time of year is EXTREMELY BUSY and I'm ready for vacation.
I just got a brand new iMac to work on and it's amazing.
My job is pretty boring and sometimes soul sucking.

Eight Goals for This Month

We all know how I feel about goals?
Setting myself up for disaster!

If I plan it out it's almost a guarantee it's not going to happen.

But here are some things I would like to accomplish this month.

1. Put some miles on my new bike
Woo I'm at like 2 miles! lol

2. Plan a vacation for next summer
I'm thinking Myrtle Beach...
or maybe California...

3. Be more positive...
I have a problem with is and I definitely need to work on it.

4. Blog more
I don't feel the same pressure I used too...
I feel like I'm leaning towards lifestyle blogging rather than crafty blogging.
I've also noticed I enjoy reading more lifestyle blogs than crafty blogs lately...

5. Enjoy my time off
I have a week off at the end of the month and I plan to be super lazy...
While catching up on everything I need to do around the house.

6. Take my vitamins...
I've gotten really bad.
I have a Vitamin D deficiency that causes swelling in my knees so I really need to get on this..

7. Fix Roxy's Harness
She ate pieces of it... that makes 3 collars/harness she's eaten.

8. Get on a workout schedule
Guess this goes with putting some more miles on my bike!

Tuesday Topics: 10 things that make you happy

A new round of Tuesday Topics!
These are great because they keep me a somewhat consistent blogger.

I've been busy playing around on my brand new iMac at work.
I've also been glued to the Jodi Arias trial. I can't help it. I really just want it over already.
So some peace for the families can be had.

But today's topic are 10 things that make me happy.
I'm gonna try and keep it light.

1. The boyfriend
He drives me crazy most of the time but I'm happiest with him.

2. My puppies
Especially today I went home and Roxy is always just so excited to welcome me home.

3. Rain!
I really want to wear my new wellies and need some rain so I don't look crazy.

4. Good News
Huffington Post has an entire section that is just good news.
I love reading it when I'm feeling disappointed in humanity.

5. Family
Especially my niece and nephew. I always love to see them.

6. Ladybugs
Or ladybug things to stash around my desk and house.

7. My new bike helmet.

Yes I'm aware I'm ridiculous

8. Online Shopping
I'm definitely not an instant gratification kind of girl.
I'd rather scope out the best deal from the comfort of my couch.

9. Trenta Green Teas from Starbucks
Never ordered trenta before. It was a must today.

10. My Flowers
These babies have survived my black thumb. Apparently the boyfriend has been keeping them watered.
I just thought they were miracles. Even though it's weird none of the purple ones are blooming.

Tuesday Topics

Today's Tuesday Topic is One Reason You Started Blogging...

For the fame?
Maybe the money?
I kid I kid.

I started blogging as a way to join in on something I sat and observed for so long.
I have been an avid reader of blogs for about 4 years.
I loved all of these creative people who share not just their projects but their lives with complete strangers.

What have I learned since I started blogging?
It's a lot harder than it looks.

This is how I feel most days...

Tuesday Topics: 2 Bucket List

I've never really sat down and thought about things I want to do.
I really need to create a bucket list and start crossing some things off!

Two things that I definitely want to do are:

Run the Disney Princess Half Marathon

You get to wear a cute costume and run through DisneyWorld.
Awesome!

Visit the place I was born

Lakenheath, England
My parents always talk about how great it was to live there. So I definitely want to visit!

Tuesday Topics: Jewelry

Hello!

So the juice fast is over...
Whomp whomp.
I felt really sick yesterday and couldn't take it anymore.
I made it about 24 hours and thought I was going to vomit for the last 4 hours of it.

Today's Tuesday Topics is three pieces of jewelry:

The ring on the left is my "place holder" from the boyfriend.
The necklace is my birthday gift from him last year.
My only Tiffany's piece and I looove it.
The ring on the bottom right is my love knot that he gave me
about 2 months after we started dating.
The ring on the top right was a gift from my grandfather before he passed away.
I really need to get it sized!
Last but not least my AOII badge.

I know it's five pieces but all of the boyfriend's only count as one I decided.
All of this jewelry means a lot to me.

Four Sites

I'm kind of an internet junkie...

Four sites that I visit daily are:

I have about 1,700 pins right now and I've slowed down alot...

Bloglovin'
I've actually gotten used to it and kind of like it better than google reader.
I get to actually see everyone's blog designs! Follow me here!

The Weather Channel
I usually check this out while I'm laying in bed so I can plan what I'm wearing.

All my trashy tabloids
USMagazine, Eonline, TMZ, People...
It's a guilty pleasure what can I say?!

I also catch up on the news. Since we don't have cable the internet is my only resource.
I mean minus going to the store to actually buy a newspaper. But who does that?
Just kidding! I do sometimes.

Tuesday Topics...

So in the spirit of being a better blogger.
I need to get back on the Tuesday Topic Train... too many T's?
What can I say I love alliteration.

This week it is:
Six Favorite Things in Your House

Do my dogs count? I declare that they do!
Yes my 85lb baby is sitting on my lap.

Spring 2009...

I know it's not six but...
Happy Tuesday!

Baby Shower for Baby Austin

So excited to be participating in Tiffany's virtual baby shower to welcome her little man Elliott!
So many great things were made I wish we could've done this in real life so I could try them myself!

My contribution is Little Man Iced Tea otherwise known as Blueberry Iced Tea.

It was super simple to make all you need is fresh blueberries, water, sugar, and tea bags.

This iced tea uses a simple syrup which is easily made. Seriously super easy.
Take about 3/4 of the package of blueberries, a cup of sugar, and a cup of water and bring it to a boil in a small pot. Once the sugar is dissolved and the blueberries are pretty cooked use whatever means necessary to smash the blueberries. I used a mashed potato thing...that's a technical term you know.

While your blueberry syrup was cooking you should've been brewing some tea. I like to use cold brew tea bags just because it's faster. I did about two quarts of water with 4 tea bags.

After your tea is brewed and your blueberries are sufficiently mashed simply mix the two together. If you don't like pulp you can use a strainer to separate the liquid from the pulp.

Add some ice and some whole blueberries for garnish and you've got a great party drink that's pretty too.

Take a look at the other items that were made to celebrate Elliott and Tiffany!

9 things I won't change my mind on...

The Austin Family Diary

So 9 things I won't change my mind on... hmmm

This one was kind of hard...but...

1. Pets are family (seriously might as well be my children)
I was always raised in a house with pets. Pets that got on the beds/couches and were never just outside.

2. Cottage Cheese is gross!
Texture, consistency, you name it...it's gross.

3. The boyfriend
While we may not be legally married we've made that commitment to each other.

4. Quality over quantity
I'd rather have one really nice well made handbag than 40 inexpensive/won't last me a month. I have carried the same bag for almost a year now. It's super versatile and I really don't have to worry about it falling apart any time soon. Same goes for shoes...now do I pay full price for these things? Absolutely not...only on the rarest occasions.

5. New Mexico is better than Texas
Having lived in both I think I can say this. Texas is sooo humid and crowded. Plus Mexican food beats Tex-Mex any day.

6. My beliefs
While I am open to and actually like hearing other people's beliefs, I am pretty set in mine. They've definitely changed as I've gotten older but the core is the same and always will be.

7. Nicknames
Don't call me Jessie...just don't do it.

8. My Love of Hello Kitty
I collect anything and everything. It's the Asian in me... My grandma's family (still in Japan) have always sent me Hello Kitty stuff. So I love it no matter how old I get.

9. Being a mom...
I'll have kid or kids one day. It's uncompromisable for me...

Another round of Tuesday Topics

The Austin Family Diary

I have professed my love of Pinterest a number of times...

It definitely comes in first for my favorite site. Second would be google reader. That has seriously changed the way I read blogs. I used to bookmark every blog I followed and have to check all of them everyday to see if something new was posted. Oh how naive I was. I went totally off track there for a second.

Moving on. Today is the start of a new Tuesday Topics.

Ten Pins

This was really hard by the way...

Sweet and Sour Chicken

This is probably the best recipe I've gotten off of Pinterest.
I do half the vinegar in case you try it out.

Violet Hunters

I want these soooo bad and would've never wanted them had I not run across them on Pinterest...

I have a recipe handwritten by grandmother that I really want to do this too...

These things are fantastic. No joke go make them right now. But since they're mini you'll convince yourself it's okay to eat like 10 at a time... not that I did that.

Until Pinterest I thought I was the only one who did this...

I leave out the watercress and it's really good. Tastes just like regular egg salad...but better.

House of Rose
This glider will be apart of my future (in like 6 years) nursery...

I think I'm going to send one of my friends these for her 25th birthday... It's so pretty but I can imagine it makes a huge mess...

I really need to own this color

I will be using this as soon as the fabric I just ordered comes in...super excited!

Okay that was pretty hard to sort through over 1,000 pins... I might have a problem.

High Five for Friday...

Yay! I'm glad it's Friday.
After traveling over the weekend last week and
getting back so late on Monday my house needs a good cleaning.

Can't wait for the day to be over so I can get started!

Another thing I'm super happy about my Etsy store hit 80 sales this week!

Not only that but I've very proud of my 100% feedback rating.

I've got some new stuff for the shop just got get it photographed and listed.

Happy Friday!

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

So here I am again...

So I have been kind of out of touch lately. It happens. I had a lot of shizz going on this past week. Yes...I just said that. Remember a while ago I said I had things in the works but couldn't talk about it yet? Well, I still can't talk about it but that's why I was absent pretty much all week. I'll finally be able to talk about it next week good or bad but let's hope for good! Please send me some positive vibes I really need it.

On another note I'm going to get back into my groove by finishing up Tuesday Topics! I missed a couple this time around but that's okay cause I'm ending it strong! I have no idea what I'm saying. I'm sitting at an airport gate right now waiting to board my plane and I'm kind of delirious.

The last topic is one guilty pleasure... just one? But I have so many! Tabloids? 90's sitcoms? 90's music in general? It's a little hard to pick just one. To be honest I don't think I can pick just one... but the one I will leave you with is.....

YouTube videos of pugs. Yes I know it's so weird! But seeing as Buster is a pug and I've had a pug pretty much whole life I love them. I think they're adorable and hilarious. Seriously YouTube pug puppies one time so many adorable time consuming videos. I was just watching one yesterday actually and I'll share it below because it's hilarious and I'm glad to find other people are just as obsessed with their pugs as I am...

Two Flowers...

Hello! Today I'm linking up with Lauren and Tiffany for another Tuesday Topics.

Today is two flowers...

So my whole life I've always said Tulips were my favorite.
I don't know why they just always were.

It wasn't until a certain flower creeped into a bunch of artwork in my house
that I realized how much I love poppies.

Second after poppies is definitely peonies.

It might sound weird but peonies weren't even on my radar until Gossip Girl.
Blair's favorite flower were peonies so they appeared on the show numerous times.
They just look so romantic and delicate. I love them.

Tuesday Topics!

Tuesday Topics: 3 Stores

I love to shop it's a sickness really...

1. Target

Walking around Target by myself is my quiet time.
It might sound odd but nothing mellows me out more then walking through entire store to see what they have on clearance.

2. Sephora

I love Sephora and really wish we had one in driving distance so I didn't have to spend $50 every time I shop online just so I can get free shipping.

3. Etsy

Etsy is a one stop shop for great things.
I get presents for everyone on Etsy.
I love that I'm supporting small business and the items are so well made.
It's also a perk that you wouldn't be able to find them in a store.

One of my recent purchases came from MadiMayDesign and was a gift for my sister-in-law.
She's a stylist so the scissors design just made sense.

I loved it so much I'm seriously considering getting something for myself.
